Refresh Art Award 2019 – The Manifesto

I have been shortlisted for the Refresh Art Award and I am so excited. I really wanted to share their manifesto, as it was the reason why I applied. I’ve had a great experience working with them and I can’t wait to meet the other shortlisted artists and organisers on the 6th June 2019 at 5th Base Gallery, London.

If you would like to support me and buy my book ‘Dream Dissociation Two’ you can purchase it here.

‘The Refresh Art Award was founded in 2018 as an independent prize to take the temperature of the unrepresented art world, which makes up the majority of artists producing work at any given time. What were these artists who don’t have gallery representation or a platform actually saying?

A year later, on the eve of the first show, the strongest emerging themes are women, from body positivity to lack of shame in the female form, to sexual abuse and date rape mixed with environmentalism, climate change and eco feminism.

Discover – Autistica

Autistica Discover Conference 2019

I am excited to announce that I will be showing new work at the 2019 Autistica Discover conference.

‘Discover is the first national network for autism research, connecting researchers with autistic people, families and professionals.’ – Autistica

The 2019 Autistica Discover conference is being held at the Reading University on the 27th of June and tickets can be purchased here.

The work I will be showcasing at Discover 2019 will bring to life aspects of my own ‘self’. The works will be a truly intimate self-portrait; exploring narratives of communication, functionality and the basic human need for empathy.

Alpha Theta at the Old Biscuit Factory

I have had the best experience exhibiting new work in ‘Alpha Theta‘ at the Old Biscuit Factory.  Art Number 23 has been a pleasure to work with and I look forward to collaborating with them in the future.

Alpha Theta at the Old Biscuit Factory

Alpha – Theta showcased two new books ‘Dream Dissociation One‘ and ‘Dream Dissociation Two‘. Each book is a self-portrait made from three-dimensional scans of my face taken during the summer. They were then translated into screen prints and carefully folded and bound.
